Uke Can Do It! New book teaches kids how to play the ukulele

Popular YouTube sensation and award-winning children’s songwriter Emily Arrow has released a new book: Kid’s Guide to Learning the Ukulele: 24 Songs to Learn and Play for Kids. In this book, children will learn the fundamentals of the ukulele and practice 24 songs, games, and activities with Emily’s expert guidance.

Learn how to hold, tune, and play the ukulele. Become familiar with main chords, then go on to learn songs such as “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” and “London Bridge.” Once you get the hang of it, the book helps you write your own songs with the included Song Recipe pages.

Arrow’s publisher, Fox Chapel Publishing, sent an advance copy of the book to Making Music, and editor Jason Emerson loved it so much he wrote a blurb for the cover: “As user-friendly as it gets, this book has perfected the recipe for teaching music to kids — and making it fun! It’s easy to follow, includes a great choice of songs to play, and has fun exercises. And I love that it offers empty pages in the back for kids to try their hand at writing their own ukulele songs. I’m an adult and I wanted to grab a uke and start learning as I read through this. Highly recommended!”
