Oxford Economics has released an economic report entitled “The Concerts and Live Entertainment Industry: A Significant Economic Engine” highlighting the industry’s contributions to the U.S. economy. According to a press release, the report was commissioned by Live Nation Entertainment and conducted by Oxford Economics “to better understand this important industry’s contributions to the U.S. economy nationally and at the state and local levels.”

“Beyond its important cultural contributions, the concert and live entertainment industry generates massive economic upside, supporting the livelihoods of nearly a million people in the US and sustaining public services with nearly $18 billion in taxes generated in 2019,” said Adam Sacks, President of Tourism Economics, a subsidiary of Oxford Economics, in the press release. “The US needs a flourishing concert and live entertainment industry to achieve full economic recovery.”

Gibson, renown builder of guitars and other instruments, has teamed up with BMG, the world’s fourth-largest music company, to create a new record label – Gibson Records – that will be headquartered in Nashville, Tenn.

In a press release, the company said, “Gibson Records will work with Gibson artists to produce, record, and promote their music to fans around the world, spreading the power of their music, creating, building, and delivering guitar-centric music, across genres to fans across the globe.”

Registration for the 20th Pamela O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition is open through Oct. 18, 2021. Any pianist from anywhere in the world – born on or after Jan. 1, 1990 – may apply to participate.
