Russian Immigrant Wins V-Accordion Contest
Last year Sergei Teleshev won the prestigious US Roland V-Accordion contest. This accordion competition, unlike many others, is open to anyone of any age, amateur or professional. In the initial rounds Teleshev played his own accordion, but the four finalists were provided the latest V-Accordion to play in the last round. “I had only four days to learn the V-Accordion,” says Teleshev.
In winning the US contest, Teleshev was allowed to keep the V-Accordion, plus he went on to compete in the world V-Accordion contest in Rome, Italy.
“It was a great experience,” says Teleshev. “I didn’t win the competition. I did win the special prize for getting the most online votes. I had an excellent time in Rome. I communicated with the best players from all around the world. We were all together for dinners and lunches with the jury members and Roland representatives from around the world. It was a great experience with lots of excellent music. It was fun!”
