The famous Venezuelan music program, El Sistema, begun in 1975, now helps children before they are even born, according to Science Daily. El Sistema uses music to counteract childrens’ exposure to violence, says coordinator Leonardo Mendez. Formerly the program targeted low income children aged five and above. This new focus connects pregnant women and their babies with music while the baby is still in the womb.
