Dynamics Change a Song, Find Out How

Dynamics are mentioned in Mark Bosnian’s second tip from his list of 10 tips for a better performance. Many people may mistake what dynamics actually represents. It’s not about being louder. Too often when a singer is told to implement some dynamics into their songs they sing louder and more powerful assuming that’s what it takes. But that simply is not the case.

Watch how Bosnian gives two examples of the same verse. One time played normally in-tune with the correct melody, and then a second time. The latter is sung with dynamics to really make it resonate more powerfully, even though it isn’t just louder. Learning how to properly use dynamics will take you to the next level with your performances.
