Community Video: Unlocking The Truth – My Chains

Meet the Brooklyn-based trio Unlocking The Truth:  Malcolm Brickhouse (guitar/vocals); Jarad Dawkins (drums); and Alec Atkins (bass).

Unlocking The Truth are a great band for any age, creed, time or color.  When they first appeared on the scene, they were just 11 years old. In 2012, UTT won raves on Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater; rocked the AfroPunk Battle of the Bands in 2013 and the Fun, Fun, Fun Festival in Austin.

In 2015 they then partnered with Johnny K (Disturbed, Megadeth) to produce their debut CD “CHAOS” which they finally and independently released June 2016.

In between all the CHAOS, UTT opened for Guns N’ Roses, Living Colour, Motorhead, Slash, Marilyn Manson and Queens of the Stone Age.  They’ve performed at Coachella and the Vans Warped Tour in front of crowds often more than twice their age. They performed at Heavy Montreal at the invitation of Metallica; Bonnaroo; Aftershock; Carolina Rebellion; Rock on The Range; New England Metal & Hard Rock Fest; Lunatic Luau; the BET Experience Fan Fest and Docs Against Gravity in Warsaw, Poland.

UTT released a documentary, “Breaking A Monster,” which premiered in theaters summer 2016 and in film festivals like SXSW, BAMcinemaFest, and Traverse City Film Festival, and it’s streaming on Netflix.

Now at age 17, UTT are still writing, composing and also producing the songs for their upcoming EP/CD.  As a matter of fact, they just released a new song and video for their single, My Chains, which shows the growth in their music/sound, as well as their growth into some very nice young men.
