In August I had the opportunity to visit Fox Cities, Wisconsin, a region of Northeastern Wisconsin along the Fox River. It is made up of 19 communities, including the cities of Appleton, Kaukauna, Menasha, Neenah, and Oshkosh. The trip delivered all that I had anticipated in small town charm, but I had not expected the region’s enthusiastic support for the arts, vibrant live music scene, and friendly, artsy vibe.
Chicago planners have announced that they hope to open the first major gospel music museum in 2020. The planned $37.2 million National Museum of Gospel Music will be housed on a site once occupied by Pilgrim Baptist Church, known as the birthplace of gospel.
