Remember that time when the new iPhones were announced back in September and everyone was really excited? People loved Apple and every item they were presenting. That is, until people woke up one day to find a free U2 album in their libraries. Apparently not everyone likes free stuff. Well in a Q&A on Facebook Bono apologizes for forcing ‘Songs of Innocence’ on everybody.
“Oops. I’m sorry about that. I had this beautiful idea and we got carried away with ourselves. Artists are prone to that kind of thing. Drop of megalomania, touch of generosity, dash of sel-promotion, adn deep fear that these songs that we poured our life into over the last few years mightn’t be heard. there’s a lot of noise out there. I guess we got a little noisy ourselves to get through it.”
What do you think about U2’s free gift to iTunes lovers? Was it a generous gift, or completely out of line? Do you think his apology makes up for it? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
