Whether you play guitar daily or have never touched one in your life, Bandfuse is a game that you need to try. Bandfuse allows you to take a real guitar and plug it in and play through your console. The game is set up to please and challenge both novice and advanced players.
The USB adapter essentially turns your console and TV into your amplifier. On any menu or screen within the game, your guitar is amplified through your TV speakers. The set-up time is minimal and there is zero lag between playing a note on your guitar and having it blast through your stereo. The game also features a built-in tuner that lets the user tune the guitar before each song.
Bandfuse let’s the user jump into the action immediately. In the game’s quick play mode, you can select any song from the 55-track library and jump right in. Unlike Rockband and Guitar Hero, you do not need to play the career modeto unlock more songs. Bandfuse features a variety of hit songs that range from punk to metal.
The first unique feature this game has, is the way the gameplay screen is laid out. Rather than having the notes come flying towards you Star Wars style, the notes scroll from right to left across the screen, tablature style. This guitar tab style will be recognizable to anyone who has looked up a guitar tab on the Internet or has cracked a guitar book. Another feature Bandfuse implements is colored-coded finger placement. When a note appears on the tab, it is surrounded by a color. Each finger has a coordinating color that the game suggests to be used on a particular note. This helps novice players learn correct finger placement.
The game also features a tour mode. This mode allows the user to play multiple-song set lists at different concerts. Each concert has a challenge, where the player must earn five stars on a song. Rather than being locked in on a single difficulty throughout the concert, the user can change the difficulty before each song. There are five difficulty levels that range from “easy” to “real.” The “real” level is a note-for-note tab of the original song. Players with varying playing skills will be able to find a comfortable level to play on. Guitarists who want a challenge have the ability to kick up the difficulty to increase their skills.
The best part of the game is the Lick Lab. This section of the game lets you learn andpractice all the songs in the library. Users can dive deep into the Lick Lab to master their guitar skills. Bandfuse allows players to break down the song into parts, adjust the speed of the song, and loop the song until you have mastered that particular section. Novice players will be able to take full advantage of this section and learn how to play songs from start to finish. More advance players will be able to quickly hop into a certain song and learn the tricky section and move on.
The game features a local multiplayer that allows other instruments to be plugged in to play together, including a microphone. Extra guitar adapters and microphones are not sold with the original game.
Whether you decide to rock out with your friends or go solo, Bandfuse is the ultimate guitar video game. The game will entertain guitarist of all different skill levels and capabilities. For beginners that want to learn guitar, or experienced veterans that want a challenge, Bandfuse is an excellent choice.
