Soulful melodies, empathetic lyrics, and moving instrumentation define the music of NYC’s indie-soul musician Jake Tavill. Drawing influence from classic icons of soul, funk, and jazz like Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, P-Funk and Miles Davis – as well as innovative modern music-makers like Vulfpeck, Moonchild, Snarky Puppy, and Robert Glasper (who taught Jake at NYU) – Jake’s music defies restrictive musical thinking. At 22, he is a graduate of NYU Tisch’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, in addition to having studied at both The Village East Conservatory and Berklee College of Music.
Jake has released two albums, Indigo Child (2014) and Twisted Ideology (2017), as well as single, “Noah’s Ark” (2015), and garnered airplay on over 200 radio stations internationally. Jake plays frequently with his top-notch backing band, Indigo Soul, in NYC as well as regionally and at venues and festivals all across the U.S. His mission is to make a difference by using his music to help people understand themselves – and each other.
