There is no Mr. Flute or Ms. Trumpet, mainly because instruments adapt, evolve, and change over time. It is hard to locate one person that is the original creator of an instrument. There is, however, a Mr. Sax. Adolphe Sax, an instrument maker, was born in Belgium 200 years ago today. He worked for his father – also an instrument maker – and created a family of instruments cleverly titled the saxhorns. It wasn’t until the early 1840’s that he made the Saxophone. The music world would never be the same. Happy Birthday Mr. Sax.
