Many people may not know that Bernie Williams is as gifted with music as he was with Baseball. Making Music covered his transition in a cover story a few years ago, but Williams didn’t stop making music back then. Not many people can say they are a baseball world champion and a Grammy nominated musician, but Bernie Williams isn’t stopping there.
Williams is a strong advocate for music education and claims his parents encouraged both of his passions: sports and music. He believes music can help in other areas of life, “Obviously, there’s an artistic and creative side to music, but to me, the important thing is that it’s a vehicle to enhance the learning ability of a child. It helps the development of the brain and how well students do in all their other subjects.”
Williams is currently in Washington D.C, with NAMM lobbying congress about music education. This video has Williams explaining his mission.
