Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason Thinks U2’s Album Release Devalues Music

Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason thinks U2’s album release devalues music in an interview with Rolling Stone. Even though Bono has apologized for the controversial release, other bands are still upset about it. The Black Keys Patrick Carney said it “devalued their music completely.” Now Nick Mason says, “Music has been horribly devalued by being given away. It’s funny they didn’t sense some of that. It’s been the big story of the 21st century, music being devalued.”

An interesting point is Mason’s broadens the issue to the 21st century and doesn’t put all the blame on Bono. What do you think about all this? Was U2 out of line? Or is Nick Mason too old-school and outdated with his beliefs?
