SiriusXM Struggles Against RIAA Lawsuit Over Older Music

SiriusXM struggles against RIAA lawsuit over older music and their case doesn’t seem to be getting any easier. This is after Flo & Eddie of The Turtles won their court case about how their public performance rights were violated with their pre-1972 sound recordings. That specific date is important since that is before federal copyright law began covering recorded music. That means, SiriusXM and other stations like Pandora have been playing pre-1972 music without paying royalties or compensation to the artists or recording studios.

This leads to the current lawsuit RIAA has against SiriusXM along the same lines. The ruling puts SeriusXM (and others) in some serious legal trouble.

Let us know what you think about SeriusXM playing music without paying royalties in the comments below.
