Sam Hunt First Rookie Since Florida Georgia Line to Top Country Airplay Chart

“Leave the Night On” moved from No. 2 to No. 1 making Sam Hunt the first musician in almost two years to reach No. 1 with a debut single. It was back in 2012 when Florida Georgia Line accomplished this feat with “Cruise.”

Not only that, but Hunt is also the first solo male to reach No. 1 with a first hit since Easton Corbin did it back in April 2012 with “A Little More Country Than That.” It’s been over 10 years for a woman. Gretchen Willson and her song “Redneck Woman” was the last to top the charts with a debut single in May 2004.
