Amptweaker’s Bass TightDrive

Bass TightDrive

Biting Bass

What do Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament and King’s X bassist/vocalist Dug Pinnick have in common? They both rely on Amptweaker’s Bass TightDrive for its crushing distortion and massive low-end. The Bass TightDrive dirties up your tone without sacrificing bottom-end. The MOD version with an extra Dry Low knob added, fleshes out low-end frequencies that were noticeably absent when the pedal is switched off. It’s extremely user-friendly, with a basic setup of volume, tone, and gain, along with the requisite “tight” control.  The Dry Low knob adds dry low end back to the tone.

We tested the Bass TightDrive using a 2013 Spector Euro 4LX bass plugged into an Ashdown Perfect Ten 30-watt combo amp, and all we can say is “Wholly cow!” Think Dogman-era Dug Pinnick on steroids in terms of tone. It’s simply huge. With the tight control turned fully counter-clockwise, the low end was very expansive and notes played at the higher end of the fretboard sounded thicker. If you’re looking to add some bite to your bass tone, try Amptweaker’s Bass TightDrive.
