Jon Dufort struck out with the recorder back in third grade, and gave up too easily on his electric bass in his freshman year. But, he does know all the words to “Louie Louie.” After graduating from SUNY Potsdam with a degree in fine art, Jon tried his hand at many jobs including school portrait photographer, screen printer, barista, screw sorter and salesman. Cassidy has been involved with music her entire life. After starting piano lessons at age 8 and picking up the clarinet at age 10, she participated in multiple ensembles throughout high school and college. She spent a year in Hungary as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student after high school and attended Pécsi Művészeti Gimnázium és Szakgimnázium where she studied clarinet, piano, and voice, along with history and theory classes. She holds a Bachelor of Music in both Music Theory and Music Business from the Crane School of Music and has interned at both DANSR, Inc. and NAMM, where she had the opportunity to work in the Museum of Making Music. Today, Cassidy is part of a community band on clarinet and also dabbles with guitar, ukulele, saxophone, and flute. Music is her life-long passion, and she is so excited to be working here at Making Music where she can share that passion with the world.

Jason Emerson is a lover of music and words. As a writer and editor with 20 years’ experience, he has done it all from writing songs, to poems and short stories, to various types of nonfiction. He has worked as a journalist in print and online for the past two decades, while also indulging his history dorkiness by writing books about Abraham Lincoln and his family (how he got into that is a long story…). When not slinging words, Jason slings a Fender Stratocaster guitar. (He taught his daughter to play guitar at a young age, but she got corrupted by her school band teacher and switched to the clarinet.)

Jesse Malone is a filmmaker with a passion for telling stories. He started his film journey in 10th grade, by making music videos as a way to get out of writing papers. However, filmmaking quickly evolved into much more, and become his main drive in life. Since then he got his bachelor’s in Cinema and Screen Studies and has worked on countless videos. Among those, some of his favorites have been the music videos he has made. His passion for storytelling and love of music translate perfectly to his position here at Making Music.
