Traveling with instruments is now easier than ever, thanks to advancements in technology that protect your gear and keep you moving. New designs include folding instruments and cases that are stronger, more portable, sleek, and
lightweight.

Most likely, your instruments are very special to you, so take care of them when you travel. If you are planning to visit friends for a weekend jam session and you need to hop a plane, you’ll want to keep them safe and secure.

Each airline has its own unique restrictions regarding carry-on items and you may have to pay to have items checked, instead. Nearly all airlines give maximum dimensions—either in length by width by height or total linear inches. Measure your instrument’s case and speak with different carriers to find which, if any, will allow you to carry on your instrument. If your instrument needs to be checked in, make sure you have the correct type of case.
